T-Shirt Dress tutorial

I love it when I find stuff I already have to make things with. Awhile back I bought some solid t-shirts that were on clearance in her current size. Then while going through my material I saw this left over material and knew it would be perfect for the pink tee. So here we go....

First cut off how ever much from the shirt you want. Just remember you need a 5/8 seam. Then for the material, I measured around Millies torso which was I think 14" then double that for the width of the fabric. Third....Measure your her from about where you cut the shirt off at to the knee or desired length. Fourth, sew the sides together, which will then be the back of the dress. Fifth, gather the top of the fabric.

Now Right sides together and pin all the way around. Then sew 5/8.

This is what it looks like inside out. I luckily have a surger so I cleaned up the inside. If you dont just trim nicely and you can zigzag stick around. Then iron.

and what do you know, you have an adorable little dress....add whatever you please to the top. Ruffles, flowers, buttons etc.....

I keep trying to get her to stand and say "cheese" but she kept squating down. Silly Lady.....and she had to wear her hot to trot boots of course.
Well good luck and have fun.

I was a crazy sewing machine and made this dress from a online pattern I found. I also made myself 2 skirts....will post soon =) Happy weekend.

  1. Super cute Leah. Keep doing the tutorials I love them! I can not believe how cute those dresses turned out. I can not wait to see the skirts you made for yourself. I have not been able to make myself anything worth wearing. Would love to learn!! Where do you get cute cheap fabric?

  2. These are ADORABLE and you make them seem so simple. I can't wait to try them now that we are going to have a girl! I haven't learned how to bunch fabric though so I don't what length stitch to do, but need to learn it for some stockings I'm doing. It's a good tutorial though. I have also been wanting to do the car seat cover and privacy cover so you are good inspiration.
